The hydrocolloid wound dressing contains sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC), a gel-forming substance, and thermoplastic rubber. In the presence of wound exudate, the hydrocolloid absorbs the fluid and forms a gel. It can adhere to both dry and moist skin surfaces.

The outer film is moisture-vapour permeable and waterproof, while providing a barrier against liquids, bacteria, and viruses. This helps maintain a healthy, moist environment that supports the wound-healing process.
